2: Interim Orders

Interim orders are urgent measures to temporarily suspend or restrict a nurse or midwife’s practice while their case is being investigated. The two types of interim orders are conditions of practice orders, which impose conditions the nurse or midwife must comply with, and interim suspension orders, which suspend the nurse or midwife’s registration. As the interim order relates to a nurse or midwife’s registration, there can only be one interim order in place at a time. This guidance is for all decision makers, including Practice Committee panel members.
