Publication scheme
The publication scheme is a list of information that we make routinely available
It tells you how you can access this information and whether there’s a cost to do so.
Using the publication scheme
Our publication scheme is split into seven classes of information:
- Who we are and what we do
- What we spend and how we spend it
- What our priorities are and how we're doing
- How we make decisions
- Our policies and procedures
- Lists and registers
- The services we offer
We're committed to providing you with as much up to date information as we can.
Most of the information included in our scheme will be current. However, for certain classes we may need to publish the information retrospectively.
You can also find out more about costs for publication requests and why we have a publication scheme.

Costs for publications
Hard copies
Most of our information is available on our website for you to view at no charge. However, there might be a charge if you ask for this information in paper format. Costs can vary depending on the request, so we'll consider each case separately.
Transcripts of hearings
Our hearings are digitally recorded, but we don't always produce written transcripts for each.
To request to have a hearing transcribed, email FTPTranscript.Requests@nmc-uk.org.
Costs can vary and we may charge for producing transcripts for those who are not a party to a hearing.
Postage
We'll charge you for the cost of postage. Information will be sent by Royal Mail second class post unless you request otherwise.
Why we have a publication scheme
We're committed to making transparency and accountability to the public fundamental principles of how we do business.
One of the benefits of our publication scheme is that we can make information easily accessible without charge.
In many cases, the information you are looking for will already be available and there will be no need for you to make a formal request under the Freedom of Information Act.
We want to make as much information available to you as possible, so we welcome your suggestions on what data you would like us to include.
