The NMC will not tolerate racist, offensive or discriminatory behaviour towards our staff. Neither will we condone the use of racist, offensive or discriminatory language directed towards professionals on our register.

We have launched new anti-racism principles – our contribution to urgently tackle the health inequities suffered by racially minoritised people. The development of the principles was driven by the Black maternal health crisis.

We publish data about the professionals on our Register every year, providing a view of how the nursing and midwifery workforce in the UK is changing.

Throughout the year, the NMC focused on transforming its culture, strengthening regulatory performance and uncovering and addressing legacy issues.
