Professor Linda Kelly

Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC)

Linda has been a registered nurse since 1990 and has worked across acute and community settings, including in district nursing, care management and governance roles. In 2011, she became Assistant Director of Nursing for Safe and Effective Care at the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, where she worked for nine years. 

Linda served as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer and Interim Chief Nursing Officer at the Department of Health in Northern Ireland between 2020 and 2022, before becoming Chief Executive of NIPEC.  

Linda holds a BSc in Nursing, a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management and an MSc in Public Health. She has also completed professional development programmes in quality improvement and nursing leadership. In 2025, she was appointed Honorary Professor of Nursing Practice at Queen’s University Belfast.
