Debbie Smith

Director of Nursing and Patient Experience at North East London NHS Foundation Trust

Debbie is a senior nurse leader with over 30 years’ experience across acute, community and mental health settings in the NHS. In her current role, she leads patient experience, nurse education, the Patient and Carers Race Equality Framework, and work to support safe, high-quality and person-centred care. 

Debbie’s work focuses on patient safety, workforce wellbeing and embedding a culture of kindness and accountability. She has also contributed to regional improvement programmes in quality assurance and patient engagement.  

Debbie is committed to workforce development, including mentoring future nursing leaders and championing professional recognition for clinical staff at every level.
