Our social media guidance, which is underpinned by the Code, covers the need to use social media and social networking sites responsibly. It includes various forms of existing and emerging social media applications, tools and platforms which includes but is not restricted to WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and so on and covers both professional and private personal use of those applications, tools and platforms by NMC registrants.
It's not intended to cover every social media situation that a nurse, midwife or nursing associate may face, however it sets out broad principles to enable them to think through issues and act professionally, ensuring public protection, confidentiality and privacy at all times.
