Alison Talbot
Deputy Chief Midwifery Officer, NHS England

I am a credible, inclusive, motivated and enthusiastic leader with a passion to ensure the provision of safe, personalised and high-quality maternity services.
I have over 10 years’ experience as a Head / Director of Midwifery in different sized organisations and during this time completed an Executive MBA in leadership and management.
Since 2021 I have been a national Maternity Improvement Advisor supporting Trusts on the National Maternity Safety Support Programme (MSSP) which included a year in the lead role for the programme working collaboratively with the national Chief Midwifery Officer team and the regional perinatal leadership teams.
More recently I have been appointed as the Deputy Chief Midwifery Officer for NHS England.
I am passionate about the maternity safety agenda and have made it my mission to ensure that Trust Boards and wider organisations fully understand the unique challenges maternity services face, including the national ambition and the importance of how robust clinical governance processes contribute to safe maternity services.
