We will ask you for some information about your health to make sure that you can practise safely and effectively.
Declaring a health condition and/or disability doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be able to join our register; we just need to be sure that you have taken steps to manage this so that you're able to practise safely and effectively.
We need to know that people applying to join our register are of sufficiently good character to practise safely and effectively.
When we assess your application, we will need to take into account any police charge, caution, conviction or conditional discharge you've received that is not protected (this means it would not be shown on a police clearance or DBS check).
It's a legal requirement for everyone on our register to have an appropriate indemnity arrangement in place for when they practise in their professional capacity.
This is to make sure that if someone has suffered harm through the negligent action of a nurse, midwife or nursing associate they will be able to claim any compensation they are entitled to.
The indemnity arrangement doesn’t need to be individually held by you (you might be covered by your employer), but it’s your responsibility to make sure that it covers your professional practice.
