Chair: Post Registration Standards Steering Group

Published on 19 August 2019

Expressions of Interest to be received by 5pm 2 September 2019

We began a five year programme to review all of our educational standards in 2016.

New standards of proficiency for Nurses were published in 2018, alongside new standards for providers of Education and Training. We have also rewritten our return to practice standards, and since the education programme began, we have become the regulator for Nursing Associates.

This year, we have consulted on new standards of proficiency for midwifery and midwifery programme standards. We hope to be able to publish the final draft of these standards later in the year. All of our work has been produced in partnership with a wide range of professional stakeholders from all four countries of the UK, people who use services and the public. We are really pleased with the positive reception that new standards have received.

We are now preparing to begin work on our post registration standards and have the same ambitions.

We are seeking expressions of interest to chair the overarching group that will be responsible for steering this work.

This will be a complex piece of work and we are looking for someone who has worked at a national level, with knowledge of our professions and of services, has experience of dealing with complex projects, and of chairing meetings with diverse interest groups. The Chair will also be needed to act as an ambassador for the work and take part engagement events.

The NMC team is based in London, but meetings and engagement events will be held across all four countries of the UK. We will discuss the overall time commitment and appropriate remuneration with the successful candidate.

The role is open to those with current registration or who retired from the register in the past two years.

If you are interested, please apply by letter outlining your motivation and relevant experience and enclosing a copy of your CV to Georgia.Toutziari@nmc-uk.org by 5pm on 2 September 2019.

For an informal confidential discussion, please contact Professor Geraldine Walters, Director of Education and Standards on 020 7681 5924 or Geraldine.Walters@nmc-uk.org

The NMC values diversity and is committed to equality and inclusion and welcomes expressions of interest in this role from all sections of the community.
