Stephanie Pease
Stephanie is the Director of Midwifery and Nursing for the Maternity and Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital Care Group for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
I am extremely proud to have worked in the NHS for the last 39 years and have witnessed the service at its finest and currently at its stretched.
I started my professional nursing and midwifery career based at Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital Kings Lynn in 1986, where I worked for 31 years. I worked in medical, surgical and orthopaedic wards as well as diagnostic services as a Registered General Nurse until 1992.
I was delighted to commence my midwifery training in 1992, qualifying in 1994 at the University of East Anglia. I have worked across all aspects of maternity care. I achieved my BSc in Midwifery in 2006. I was proud to be a Supervisor of Midwives and am currently a Newborn Infant Physical Examination Midwife.
I have worked across all aspects of midwifery but one of my passions is the provision of antenatal care/services to our service user and worked in the community setting for 14 years before becoming the Matron for Women’s Health and Outpatient Services at the QE.
In 2016 I completed my studies with gaining an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme both with University of Birmingham. I have used all the elements of this programme to support my leadership style.
I moved to London in 2017 and progressed the development of the private maternity services within an NHS setting. I worked closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as the being one of the senior midwifery management.
I was the Lead Midwife for Private Maternity services at Imperial Healthcare Trust working predominately at the CQC outstanding Queen Charlotte and Chelsea's Hospital. I am also having the additional responsibility as the Lead Midwife for the award-winning Bereavement service, the Lead Midwife for Maternity Voices Partnership, the service Lead for Complementary therapies and the Lead Midwife for the Female Genital Mutilation team.
I have completed my Diploma in Complementary Therapies in Midwifery Practice and my Certificate in Acupuncture in Midwifery Practice, both of which are additional passions of mine, empowering and supporting a holistic approach to midwifery/maternity care for and with women.
I am also a CQC Specialist advisor for Maternity Services and have completed several challenging service inspections. I am also an Active Bystanders trainer which actively encourages open and transparent professional conversations which I feel sits perfectly alongside my Director of Midwifery and Nursing role.
I have been married for 35 years, have 1 son and live with my family in Sutton Bridge - South Lincolnshire.
I look forward to working hard with everyone for our future quality and safety of the midwifery profession.
