Naomi Delap
Naomi Delap is the Director of the charity Birth Companions and a leading advocate for maternity care, women’s rights, and systemic justice in the UK.
Her work focuses on pregnant women and new mothers facing severe disadvantage, particularly those affected by the criminal justice, children’s social care and immigration systems.
She has led initiatives including the Birth Charter for women in prison and Birth Charter for women with involvement from children’s social care, advocated for sentencing reform to consider pregnancy and early motherhood, and campaigned for equitable, trauma-informed maternity care.
Naomi’s research, policy and thought-leadership work also explores the intersections of poverty, trauma, reproductive justice, racial inequality, and climate impacts on women’s health.
