Council meetings

Agendas and when our meetings take place

The Council is the governing body of the NMC. It sets our strategic direction and the budget, monitors performance and holds the Executive to account for delivery.

The Council sets the standards which nurses, midwives and nursing associates must meet to be registered, including for education and training, the Code and revalidation.

Council meetings can cover issues ranging from our regulatory role to scrutiny of our performance and finances and may include matters that only the Council can decide, as well as issues for discussion or information.

There is an opportunity at every Council meeting for observers to ask questions. We will aim to answer the question during the Council meeting if time allows. All questions and responses will be published in the minutes of the meeting, available on our website one week in advance of the next meeting.

If you cannot attend a meeting but would like to submit a question, please email matthew.hayday@nmc-uk.org.
