Emma Westcott is Acting Executive Director of Strategy and Insight. In her time at the NMC she has been responsible for policy, strategy, insight, and external affairs, with stints leading other briefs. Emma led the regulation of nursing associates in England and the modernisation of midwifery regulation. Before joining the NMC, Emma held national policy and research roles in regulation, local government, and higher education. She has experience as a governor, a trustee, and a lay panellist for another professional regulator.
Emma has wide interests in social policy and social justice. As a regulator, she is committed to creating an environment in which we make good decisions based on our statute, our goals and values, good evidence, and with an eye to the future.
