If a nurse or midwife has died
Informing us of a deceased nurse or midwife
In the event that a nurse or midwife dies, we need to be informed so that we can keep our register up to date. This also means that the bereaved family will no longer receive further postal communication, which can be distressing.
If you are the relative or representative handling the affairs of a deceased nurse or midwife, please write to us.
We need to know their full name, date of birth, address, and their NMC Pin, if this is known. We will also require a copy of the death certificate. Please also let us know if you would like an acknowledgement sent to anyone in particular.
Please send your covering letter and a photocopy of the death certificate to:
UK Registration Department
Nursing and Midwifery Council
23 Portland Place
Alternatively, these can be scanned and emailed to UKenquiries@nmc-uk.org or faxed to 020 7681 5300/5301.
