Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Executive and Registrar for the NMC, has issued a statement in response to today’s GMC-commissioned report into the health and wellbeing of doctors, led by Professor Michael West and Dame Denise Coia.
“I welcome today’s report from the GMC. It shines an important spotlight on what regulators, and the health and care system as a whole, can do to ensure the wellbeing of all professionals is truly valued.
“At the NMC, we recognise the long hours, tons of dedication and gallons of emotional resilience our nursing and midwifery professionals selflessly deliver day in, day out as part of delivering good standards of care.
“Furthermore, both our Future Nurse and Future Midwifery standards emphasise the importance of managing the health and wellbeing of those on our register, including knowing when and how to access support.
“Through the work with our partners, and the development of our new future strategy, I look forward to the NMC continuing to help shape a truly caring culture, where better, safer care can thrive.”
