NMC welcomes four new council members

Four new council members join the NMC Council today.

The NMC is delighted to welcome four new members to its Council today. Dr Lynne Wigens and Eileen McEneaney join the NMC as registrant members, with Eileen being the member for Northern Ireland. Anna Walker and Sue Whelan Tracy join the NMC as lay members.

We would also like to say an enormous thank you to our former members, Maura Devlin, Lorna Tinsley, Anne Wright and Stephen Thornton for the tremendous contribution they have made to the Council over the past eight years.

The Council is the governing body of the NMC it sets the strategic direction for the organisation and the standards by which registered nurses and midwives must work.

The Council is made up of six members from a registrant background and six from a non-registrant or lay background and has to include members from each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
