How the PSA oversees our work

The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) oversees our work. The PSA was set up by Parliament to oversee the work of all professional regulators of healthcare in the UK and social work in England.

The PSA looks at a number of aspects of our work. Each year it reviews our overall performance and reports on this to Parliament. Our performance is assessed against the PSA's Standards of Good Regulation.

Audit of fitness to practise cases

The PSA may decide to audit a sample of the fitness to practise cases we have closed before the final adjudication stage. It decides whether to do this on the basis of a risk assessment each year.
