The Code and revalidation are fundamental to safe and effective nursing and midwifery practice, and will ensure we protect the public through modernised standards that reflect contemporary practice.
We’re currently reviewing the Code and revalidation to help ensure they reflect today’s health and social care landscape – from the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion, to reflecting high profile inquiries and the progress of artificial intelligence.
The reviews will also ensure the Code and revalidation reflect the evolving roles of professionals, and ensure the standards meet the ongoing expectations of the public, professionals and employers.
Code and revalidation survey
As part of the reviews, we’re conducting a survey. We want to hear from you about:
- How the Code could be improved through new or strengthened standards, guidance or supporting information
- How we could improve the current model of revalidation, including ensuring it supports professionals to deliver the best possible care, is robust and is accessible for everyone on the register - whatever their role and background.
Complete our Code and revalidation survey
The survey will typically take around 10 minutes to complete. We expect to launch a formal consultation from September 2026, subject to approval by our governing Council.
