Applying to the register after more than six months
What to do if you trained in the UK and are applying to the register more than six months after qualifying
Where there is a delay of six months or more between completing your nursing or midwifery programme and applying to the register, you’ll need to provide a further reference from a registered nurse or midwife (depending on your qualification).
The supporting declaration must be completed by someone who’s already registered in the part of the register in which you are applying to be registered. This nurse or midwife must:
- have known you for at least one year,
- have been in contact with you during the last six months, and
- be able to confirm your declaration.
You can provide this reference through your NMC Online account.
