We've seen a huge amount of interest in this consultation. At busier times you might not be able to access the consultation site as there are too many people trying to access it.

If this happens, please check back after a short while and you should be able to access the survey. We're sorry for any inconvenience, and hope you will have an opportunity to share your view over the 8 week consultation period.

When people apply to join our register, we need to make sure that their English language skills are good enough for them to be able to practise safely as a nurse, midwife or nursing associate. Our English language requirements, and the evidence that we require people to provide, must be fair and proportionate.

So far in 2022, we have reflected on the current English language requirements, collected evidence and reviewed stakeholder feedback on the subject. We would now like to seek your views on some proposed changes to our approach.

This is an opportunity for you as a member of the public, patient, user of services, health and care professional, applicant, employer, union, education institution or representative group to share your thoughts.

We’ll ask for your feedback on specific proposals as well as giving you the opportunity to share your wider thoughts on the subject.

The survey will take around 20 minutes to complete and any personal data will be collected and stored in line with our privacy policy. The survey is open until 23:59 on 12 August. You may find it helpful to read our full public consultation document (also available here in Welsh) before completing the survey.
