NMC responds to Sir Simon Stevens stepping down from NHS England

Responding to the news that Sir Simon Stevens will step down as Chief Executive of NHS England and NHS Improvement at the end of July, Andrea Sutcliffe CBE, Chief Executive and Registrar at the Nursing and Midwifery Council, said:
"On behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council I would like to extend our very best wishes to Sir Simon Stevens.
"Sir Simon has led the NHS in England through significant changes and challenges over the last seven years, including the incredible response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"As a leader, Sir Simon has sought to improve the experience of people who use services, as well as prioritising equality, diversity and inclusion within the NHS workforce.
"I wish Sir Simon the very best for the future as he joins the House of Lords where I'm sure he'll continue to be a powerful advocate for positive change in our health and care system."
