NMC celebrates International Nurses Day
Published on 12 May 2021
Andrea Sutcliffe thanks and celebrates all the nurses on our register on International Nurses Day.
Responding to International Nurses Day, Andrea Sutcliffe CBE, Chief Executive and Registrar for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, said:
“On International Nurses Day, I’m incredibly proud of our registered nursing professionals and students who have been called upon like never before during Covid-19.
“Despite tremendous pressures, working across all four countries of the UK - in hospitals, in the community and in social care – they’ve continued to provide safe, kind and effective care that has undoubtedly saved many lives and supported thousands of people and their families back to better health.“Whilst we reflect on the last year, today is also a time to look ahead, recognising the pressures our dedicated professionals face and working together to make sure they get the support they need so we don’t lose them to the effects of burnout and other work-related stresses.
“On behalf of the NMC, I and want to say a huge thank you. Happy International Nurses Day!”
