Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Executive and Registrar, responds to the Department of Health and Social Care’s bureaucracy busting drive announcement.

Responding to the Department of Health and Social Care’s bureaucracy busting drive announcement, Andrea Sutcliffe CBE, Chief Executive and Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, said:

“We are pleased the Government has reinforced its commitment to modernising health and care professional regulation, something we’ve wanted for a long time.

“We want to do the best job we possibly can and were happy to add our voice to the call for improvements during the summer.

“During the challenges of Covid-19, we were able to act flexibly, swiftly and fairly as a result of the exceptional emergency powers we were granted.

“We’d like to continue working in this way to reduce unnecessary burdens on nursing and midwifery professionals, employers and educators, and improve public protection.”
