Maria McIlgorm has been appointed to the most senior nursing position in Northern Ireland

Andrea Sutcliffe, NMC Chief Executive and Registrar, has welcomed the news that Maria McIlgorm will take up the role of Northern Ireland’s Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) from March 2022:

“On behalf of the NMC, I’d like to congratulate Maria on her appointment as CNO in Northern Ireland. The role has never been more important with the pandemic continuing to put nurses and midwives in all corners of the UK under severe pressure. I’m absolutely confident Maria will provide the excellent leadership that the professions in Northern Ireland need during these tough times.

“We’re also looking forward to working with Maria to understand her long-term vision for the role. I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities to work together on our common goals for the benefit of the people on our register, and the public we all serve. We wish Maria all the very best from day one.”
