NMC appoints interim Chief Operating Officer

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has appointed Alison Sansome as interim Chief Operating Officer. 

Alison has been Director of Registration at the NMC since April 2013, and has previously worked at senior management level in both the private and public sectors. 

The role of the Chief Operating Officer will focus on internal operations and supporting the Chief Executive.  

NMC Chief Executive and Registrar Jackie Smith said: 

“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Sansome to the position of interim Chief Operating Officer.

“Alison’s extensive experience means she is well-equipped to support me in providing direction for the organisation. I look forward to working with her in her new role.”

Alison Sansome said:

“I am delighted to be working as the Chief Operating Officer at a very busy and exciting time for the NMC, and I look forward to helping shape the future of the organisation.”
