Professor Charlotte McArdle
Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland
Charlotte is responsible for the professional leadership, performance and development of the nursing and midwifery professions in Northern Ireland, including providing support to the Department’s lead Allied Health Professions (AHP) Officer.
Working with her team, Charlotte sets the strategic direction for nursing, midwifery and health visiting services, agreeing programmes of action, setting goals and targets and ensuring that progress is monitored and evaluated. She works closely with the directors of nursing and counterparts in other UK countries.
Charlotte has led a number of policy initiatives which underpin professional practice such as Person Centred Standards for Record Keeping Practice, Policy Imperative - Delivering Care: Nurse Staffing Levels in Northern Ireland.
Charlotte also chairs the Northern Ireland Key Performance Indicator Advisory Board for Nursing and Midwifery.
