NMC response to Department of Health consultation

We welcome DH consultation on healthcare education funding

Today we published our response to the Department of Health consultation 'Reforming healthcare education funding: creating a sustainable future workforce'.

NMC Chief Executive and Registrar Jackie Smith said:

"While it is for the Government to determine how healthcare education should be funded, we welcome that this consultation recognises the need for an increased capacity in practice placements to match a projected increase in student numbers. However, it is essential that students continue to receive high quality support from mentors when on practice placement and that any increase in student numbers does not have a detrimental effect on this support."
