Where a hearing has adjourned to resume at a later date, there is no minimum notice period. This allows us to arrange a resuming hearing as soon as possible after the adjournment.

We must notify the nurse or midwife of the date, time and venue of the resuming hearing as soon as we are able to do so. We do not have to do this in writing.1

If a nurse or midwife has attended the hearing, we will try to agree the date, time and venue of the resuming hearing before the hearing is adjourned. This requires the agreement of all the parties. Where possible, the panel Chair will announce at the hearing and in public the resuming hearing details.

Although there is no requirement for a resuming hearing notice to be in writing, we will send the nurse or midwife confirmation of the date, time and venue in writing following the adjournment where possible to do so.

Where the nurse or midwife has not attended the hearing, or the parties could not agree on a resuming date, we will send written notification of the details as soon as we are able to do so after these have been confirmed.
