Circumstances where voluntary removal will not be appropriate
VR only applies to nurses, midwives and nursing associates who are subject to an actual or potential fitness to practise allegation. VR does not apply to nurses, midwives or nursing associates who simply want to be removed from the register or to let their registration lapse. In these circumstances the nurse, midwife or nursing associate should follow the ‘cease to practise’ process.
VR is not permitted when a nurse, midwife or nursing associate is subject to a final conditions of practice or suspension order.1
