Memoranda of understanding (MoUs)
Memoranda of understanding set out how organisations will work together.
There are many organisations across the UK with a role in the quality and safety of health, care and education for healthcare professionals. We enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an organisation when it is helpful to set out how we will work together to protect the public.
Our MoUs typically cover how we will work together on strategy and share information with each other. To protect the public we need to know when our information may be relevant to another organisation, and when we may find information held by others useful to us. For example, if an investigation finds information that suggests a concern about a healthcare setting, we may need to tell a system regulator.
We review our MoUs periodically with our partners to make sure they are effective for our work together.
